Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visits the Chinese Canadian Museum

Welcoming a special guest to the museum! We were honoured to host the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, joining our Board Chair Grace Wong and CEO Dr. Melissa Karmen Lee on a tour of our exhibitions highlighting Chinese Canadian stories and experiences.

Thank you to the Prime Minister for his encouraging words — "The Chinese Canadian community has always been an inspiration on overcoming adversity and building this country in so many ways, literal and figurative. There is a need for institutions like this to make sure that you and your future generations can take pride in your history, acknowledge the hurts of the past, acknowledge the strength and resilience ... but also share those stories with all Canadians, that we understand this."

We are very grateful to the Federal Government for the support that we've received to develop the museum, and hope to have continued support in the future. We look forward to further engagement with our Canadian leaders.
