Chinese Canadian Museum Welcomes Inaugural CEO

The Chinese Canadian Museum Society of BC welcomes Dr. Melissa Karmen Lee as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the Chinese Canadian Museum. Following an extensive search, the Board of Directors are delighted to have Melissa join CCM on October 17, 2022. 

As the inaugural CEO, Melissa will work closely with the Board of Directors and staff toward the grand opening of the Chinese Canadian Museum at the Wing Sang Building in summer 2023 and lead the museum through its next phases of growth. 

Melissa brings an excellent combination of leadership skills and museum experience including curatorial research, program development, and implementation of strategic direction. Melissa was born and raised in Vancouver and received her Ph.D. in Chinese Diaspora Art and Culture from the Lancaster University, United Kingdom. Melissa has previously worked at the Hong Kong’s Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts as their Education and Public Programs Curator, and more recently, at the Vancouver Art Gallery as Director of Education and Public Programs. She also held a senior lectureship at the Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2008-2016 and was the scholar in residence at the David Lam Centre at Simon Fraser University.
